Communicating Your Strengths on Paper & in Person to Land that Perfect Job

Posted by WEST Board Member on Jan 2, 2017 10:00:00 AM

How you portray yourself on a resume and in person during an interview are essential elements on the path to an epic career. It also requires putting in the effort to be completely prepared, and reflect to others why you are the only person for that position. Come join us for an interactive evening and be inspired to take a step back and evaluate how you can effectively communicate your strengths and career path, on paper and in person.

The January 11th 2017 WEST event “Swipe Right... Into Your DREAM Career” will be led by Eva Quinn, Manager of Human Resources & Office Dynamics at TCR2 Therapeutics Inc. Eva brings extensive experience to this topic having more than 10 years of know-how related to talent acquisition, career development, employee relations, and training initiatives. Eva has planned an event that will encourage you to pursue your passions and display confidence both on your resume and in person during an interview. This will include tips on how to balance a professional level of confidence without being too timid or too aggressive. It’s often the non-verbal communication that leaves the interviewer with the strongest impressions! Eva will speak from her experiences, using exercises and her passion about this topic to offer advice on how to light a fire and affect change when you are not in love with your current position.

Areas of focus will include:
• Building and organizing your resume and key words that describe your strengths
• Addressing career transitions
• Applying for the right position
• Confidently navigating the interview process
• Connecting with your interviewer – see it from the view of a blind date!
• Practicing questions and answers

Join us for an exciting evening filled with opportunities to improve your resume and interview skills in order to land that perfect job, and also to meet and network with other WEST members.

Come prepared with questions (and even a copy of your resume) so that Eva can give you some 1:1 feedback and advice at the end of the event.
