At WEST, we’ve always known that the journey of professional development is not a solo endeavor. For over two decades, we’ve witnessed the power of community in action—how encouragement, mentorship, and shared wisdom can shape not only individual careers but entire industries. As we reflect on 25 years of growth, impact, and collective resilience, this year’s annual theme is both a celebration and a guiding light for the years ahead.
This year marks a significant milestone for WEST— we’re celebrating 25 years of
supporting and advancing women in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. As we reach this exciting milestone, we’ve dedicated this year’s annual theme to celebrating the force behind our success: the WEST community whose passion, resilience, and achievements have not only sustained us, but propelled us forward.
WEST’s 2025-2026 Annual Theme: Stronger Together; Your Success is Our Legacy
Our decision to embrace “Stronger Together: Your Success is Our Legacy” stems from two foundational truths that define WEST: that sit at the center of WEST’s identity:
- We rise by lifting one another, and
- And our legacy lives on through the success of our community.
As we celebrate our 25th anniversary, the word “legacy” feels especially meaningful. WEST was built on the vision of a more inclusive and equitable future for women in science and technology—and the success stories, breakthroughs, and leadership journeys of our members that have brought that vision to life. Your success is not just a personal win; it is part of the legacy we share and the foundation we’re continuing to build.
Our legacy is lived by and through the community that makes our events possible and pushes our mission forward:
I started as a volunteer with WEST, providing support at the in-person events. As I became more involved, WEST provided me with several opportunities to improve my leadership skills. These opportunities include moderating career possibility panels, introducing event speakers, planning events, and eventually joining the Advisory Board and Board. - Elissa Hobert

Over the past 25 years, WEST has met our members where they are and adapted to their needs in real time. Our members speak to this live-action support:
WEST is an extraordinary community. I am so proud of the way we've supported our community during the most challenging times. During COVID, we pivoted immediately to move all our in-person sessions to Zoom. We provided support and connection to our community within 2 weeks. Our membership blossomed in 2020 to welcome new members across the country. We now support women far beyond Boston on a regular basis through our continued virtual programming. I'm also proud of our WEST on Wednesday (WoW) events that we launched when we emerged from the COVID restrictions. These lively events have deepened the connections of our Boston-based members. These gatherings provide comfort, friendship, and connection to our members in transition during a challenging employment climate. - Etta Jacobs
