Team Leadership: Are You Ready?

Posted by WEST Board Member on Nov 2, 2016 3:59:53 PM
We all have to be leaders – leaders of teams, leaders of projects, leaders of families, leaders of ourselves. Leadership skills can and should be cultivated throughout your career, and well before you reach traditional roles of authority. Leadership is hard, even rocket science can seem easier at times. Leadership requires strong self-awareness and personal competencies that can be developed though continuous improvement and practice.
As Rita Allen explains there is no one-size-fits all. Each leader needs to develop a personal plan and style based to suit her own strengths and challenges.

Come and learn with your peers on November 10th at WEST’s Team Leadership - Developing, Mentoring and Coaching Your Team workshop. Under Rita’s thoughtful guidance, you will prepare yourself to avoid the pitfalls and mistakes that can challenge even the most experienced leaders, and develop those crucial skills:

  • Listening to encourage open dialogue, giving and receiving feedback
  • Finding Focus – clarity around team priorities and communications
  • Cultivating team diversity, encouraging different perspectives
  • Coaching as a manager, managing as a coach

Do you have leaders you admire and want to emulate or those whose behaviors you want to avoid? Come and share your own experiences during this inspiring interactive workshop lead by Rita B Allen and sponsored by WEST.

November 10th at 6pm. Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard, 415 Main Street, Monadnock Room, Cambridge, MA 02142
