Speaking in public whether we are speaking to a small meeting or a packed conference is daunting. Your presence and delivery are key to your success but you do not have to be a ‘performer’ to deliver a strong, authentic message. These skills can be learned and must be practiced, and practiced and practiced.
Women in science and technology often face a double challenge: building self-confidence and getting our inner critic to shut up; and, since communication skills are generally not included in science curricula, we have probably not received coaching in this area.
Boston based WEST is offering a workshop to help our community work on these skills. Join us to develop your communications skills. Learn all the important aspects of developing, practicing, delivering, and self-evaluating your presentations. You will even get the opportunity to give a short presentation and receive feedback!
