We might even have a vision of what this perfect balance looks like. Yet we all struggle to reach this balance. Why can’t we achieve this perfect balance? One reason is that it's the wrong question. Balance implies equal time or a consistent, static state. Our lives are far too complex and changeable to be able to find one right answer on how to honor all of our commitments. It’s not about finding the ‘perfect’ work-life balance, it’s about setting the boundaries that will support your goals and priorities.  For some of us, setting boundaries is an uncomfortable concept. Just the idea of having to say “No” to a request, or to make time for self-care, or a girls’ night out creates a sense of guilt. But if you’re not setting boundaries and holding to them, are you really running your day, or is the day running you?  If you’re ready to take back your power and step into the confidence of a life well lived, you won’t want to miss WEST’s upcoming event, “Boundaries: Exploring & Setting Boundaries to Reduce Your Stress and Increase Your Confidence.” Etta Jacobs, Past President of WEST, will be leading an interactive workshop to help you reflect on your values and priorities, so you can begin to set boundaries that will allow you to make time for all that is important to you. You will also learn from stories of women who identified what was most important to them, and trusted those beliefs. When these brave women identified their values around a situation, their ability to know what the right thing to do became obvious, and they never looked back. It’s important to test your new boundaries, to discover if they support your priorities. Studies show that setting and keeping boundaries decreases your worries and stress. Starting the new year with clear priorities and the boundaries to support them, is a great way to set yourself up for success in 2025.
