WEST is excited to continue its Career Possibilities & Speed Networking series with it’s upcoming event focusing on legal career paths. While legal opportunities aren’t the obvious STEM route, there are so many opportunities to grow a very successful legal career with a STEM background. The panelists for this event are prime examples of following a passion for both legal work and the advancing of science and technology in our world.
The panelists for this event include: Yasmin Ghassab with Vertex Pharmaceuticals, Asha Nadipuram with Takeda, Alicia Palladino with Troutman Pepper, Jeanette Potts with Forma Therapeutics, Daniel Rubé with Regeneron Pharmaceuticals, and Robin Walker with Arteia Therapeutics. These six panelists have followed a variety of different paths, some clear, some only known one step at a time. They will all be joining WEST on October 18, 2022 to share their stories, educational and professional backgrounds, and advice with those looking to grow in a legal career path within the STEM community.
WEST had the chance to get a little bit of a sneak peek into some of the things that our panelists will share with attendees at the event. Check out their first responses below:
What is the most rewarding part of your job?
“I’ve done my job well when a colleague tells me that I’m not like other lawyers because I helped them think creatively to find practical, cost-effective, and timely solutions to complex legal issues while having fun.” -Robin Walker
“Contributing to an overall goal of advancing new medicines to patients with a medical need.” -Jeanette Potts
“Being part of a client’s team to protect cutting edge technology and knowing that treatments and cures are just around the corner.” -Alicia Palladino
What led you to your current work? Were you following a plan you had for yourself or was it unexpected?
“I did not follow a predetermined plan but followed the path created by drive, inspiration and curiosity.” -Alicia Palladino
What do you believe is the most important quality for recent graduates and young professionals to hone into a mastered skill as they enter the working world?
“Be curious, stay committed and help others along the way.” -Jeanette Potts
What is one piece of advice you wish you could give to your younger self? Thus, what piece of advice would you share with younger professionals now?
“Stay friends with your friends. Throughout my career it has been truly incredible how many times that I was referred for an exciting job opportunity or to participate as a speaker on a panel by a friend. Similarly, by staying friends with my friends, I am able to provide and/or seek guidance on a wide variety of subjects.” -Robin Walker
Our panelists have been in the just getting started, and shifting career directions position and have overcome many obstacles along the way. For anyone gearing up to shift career directions, go for a promotion, or recent graduates looking for any insight on how to get started, these panelists will provide such amazing insight. This event will be truly valuable to all who attend.
We invite you to join us this Tuesday, October 18, 2022 from 6:00-7:30 PM ET to listen to a moderated Q&A session full of insight, and a networking session where attendees will have the opportunity to meet the panelists and other professionals working to grow in their careers.
