Introduction: Jackie Schumacher has been a part of WEST for the last two years. During that time, she has worn several hats. Serving on the Board of Directors, Jackie has contributed greatly to WEST and is currently Chair of the Advisory Board committee. She is also Regulatory and Quality Lead at RallyBio. Gender Parity

WEST is hosting a gender parity panel discussion on 9/30. This topic is essential because while more women are finding themselves in STEM careers in general, there is still work to be done to get more women into leadership roles. In leadership roles, women often feel like they are walking a tightrope to be likeable and respected. This panel will include leaders from academia, industry, and consulting services who have worked for gender parity in science and technology. They will discuss techniques they have used to achieve gender parity and how to advance more women into leadership roles.

Team Leadership: Are You Ready?

We all have to be leaders – leaders of teams, leaders of projects, leaders of families, leaders of ourselves. Leadership skills can and should be cultivated throughout your career, and well before you reach traditional roles of authority. Leadership is hard, even rocket science can seem easier at times. Leadership requires strong self-awareness and personal competencies that can be developed though continuous improvement and practice.
